Matt Martin is in business development (aka promotes advertising and sponsorships) for Global Spectrum at the Comcast Arena at Everett. A long-time arena guy and hockey fan, he jumped at the chance to work here and live in the northwest and has been here since 2004. As he is about to embark on his second Habitat for Humanity Global Village trip, we thought it would be cool to ask him a few questions....
Describe what you have done for Habitat for Humanity: In 2009 I spent 10 days in Salgueiro, Brazil building two houses. We worked alongside a local construction crew, and I became very fluent in the Portugese words for cement, shovel, and bucket. Currently I am raising money to donate to someone locally interested in a Habitat Global Village trip. It was such a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone.
What can you tell us about your upcoming trip? Next week I will be traveling to a small village in Fiji. We will spend two weeks building a one bedroom house for a mother and daughter. I am really looking forward to learning about a new culture and part of the world I’ve never seen before. There will be 16 people in our Habitat group coming from all over the US and Canada, plus one guy that lives in Singapore and one girl that is traveling all the way from Switzerland!
Do you have a secret talent or something about you that no one would know unless you told them? I have a negative talent that I am embarrassingly bad at water skiing and wakeboarding. This seems like a good platform to see if anyone wants to teach me. Anyone???
Favorite part of your job at Comcast Arena at Everett? Building relationships and helping businesses grow in the community and getting to see lots of great events.
Best moment at an event here? The Stealth lacrosse championship game this past May was awesome... A sold out crowd, a national television audience, and a back-and-forth game with the good guys coming out on top!
Favorite video game? Super Mario Bros 2 on the original Nintendo
Favorite concession food? Mochi Chicken from Bobby’s Hawaiian.
Favorite Top Pot Doughnut? Chocolate Bars
Thank you Matt, for all you do for the arena, local businesses and people thousands of miles from home. Godspeed!
